Vera had fever on 20 Jan. It lasted for 5 days. The fever together with diarrhaea, vomitting, cough and flu. She was no fever after one course of antibiotic from GP. Thank God..
She went back to Child care Centre on 28 Jan, with slight cough and flu. We thought she was fine so we went back to Kulai for short trip on 1 Feb (Friday) night and came back to Singapore on the next day. We felt that she had fever when we were coming back from Kulai at around 3.30pm. When we reached home, we quickly give her paracetamol. Her fever subsided then.
To our surprise, at 9.45pm, her fever shot up very high and she refused to take the medicine which is for 38.5 and above one..shortwhile later, she had fist..both of us were frighten to death and shouted for Jesus' healing. I saw her fist in his dad's arm and I quickly rush to change and grab my wallet to get ready to A&E Alexandra Hospital. My husband shouted in the living room that Vera had fainted and her face color turn purple, and she was biting very hard. I was so afraid and did not know what to do..I rushed to the living room to take over her on my shoulder so that my hubby to change to rush to hospital.
The journey was very short but it was very long journey to us..my husband shouted Vera many times and thank God that I can feel that she is breathing well on my shoulder..just that she was unconcious.
When we reached the A&E, Doctor thermoscan her temparatur, it was 39.8. She quickly give her supportsitories and X-ray for her..she even use wet towel to cool her down. After short while, she was concious and can recognise us. Thank God Thank God she is fine..We really afraid that the worst thing will happen.
We were told that Vera has to be transferred to NUH because there is no children hospital in Alexandra Hospital. Vera and I took the ambulance to NUH.
We waited for quite sometime in NUH for Doctor to see her. She vomitted in the hospital and her fever subsided a bit. Doctor looked at the X-Ray film and said she might have bronchitis but she can't confirm..Later she said that it was just Febrile Seizure..since she is conscious and able to move, there is no need to be hospitalised. After taken the medicine from the counter..we went home finally..
The fever persist for another 3 days. On Tuesday, we took Pastor's wife advise to bring her to Gleaneagle Child Specialist. The doctor is really experienced, very old man and gentle. He looked at the X-ray film and check on Vera and confirmed that she has bronchitis. He told us that the fever and cough will continue for another 2 days. We need to rent a machine from the clinic to let Vera suck in the medicine for 4 x 4 days.
The incident was really frightening. The image of Vera having fist and turn purple and fainted unconsciously keep repeating in our mind..not sure when will it goes..Its so painful to see own child have to suffer all these..We think that we were to careless to let her fever shot up so high..but on the other hand, we thank God that the fist happened in Singapore and it happened earlier, not later. because if it happened in Kulai..we really don't know where to find a doctor..if the fist did not happened, until now we still don't know that she got bronchitis and right treatment might be delayed and the situation might turn worse..
This CNY will be a special one for us. We won't go back Kulai for re-union dinner. We have to stay in Singapore to give Vera the treatment and cut down any tiring journey for her....But we can go to Church on new year Sunday for service : )
Now, I have to admit that no matter how hard you feed your child with good food or lingzi, they are still very fragile. Even you don't send her to child care, they will still get bronchitis (my colleague's child got it without going to child care). Moral of the incident, do not send your child to child care centre too early. Try your best to send them after 3 year old.
